Nelson County JDA Apprenticeship Program

Established in 2026, the Nelson County Job Development Authority (NCJDA) Apprenticeship Program provides reimbursable grants of up to $5,000 per apprentice to help Nelson County businesses train and retain their workforce. Eligible businesses must operate in Nelson County, and apprentices should be enrolled in a registered state apprenticeship program when available. One apprentice per employer may receive funding each calendar year, with eligible expenses including wages, educational materials, and necessary equipment; employer tax dollars are not reimbursable.

 

Applications are reviewed and approved by the NCJDA Board by majority vote, and apprenticeships are encouraged not to begin until approval. Grant funds are disbursed after the apprenticeship is completed and required receipts are submitted, with work generally required to be completed within one year of approval. A business or property owner may receive the grant once per year, up to a $25,000 lifetime maximum.
